Antique 1.2 Carat Tdw Old Mine Cut DIAMOND Natural Studs 18k Gold Solid Screw Back Stud EARRINGS French Gift Belle Epoque Bridal Minimalist
I am selling an assortment of vintage to antique jewelry and rings which I have hunted for and gathered from around the world. Some examples seen in the last photo - thanks for stopping by!
ABOUT:
A French antique pair of old mine cut diamond stud earrings! Total carat weight for the pair is about 1.2 carat. Classic setting with the prongs topped in a white precious metal, likely platinum (I do not scratch test prongs for fear of damage).
With sturdy screw backs that don't slip or slide and prongs that are in great shape so these antiques are ready for regular wear. I don't usually recommend 24/7 wear for most all antiques but these are actually excellent with the really tight backs.
I couldn't find any hallmarks but sold to me as 18k which is the standard in France and tested to confirm. They have a lovely rich patina.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
About 4.9 by 5mm for each stone, and .6 carat each - I couldn't get an exact depth measurement as the stone are set. But these align with typical measurements where a 5mm round brilliant measures around half a carat and these being chunkier / deeper old cuts measuring a bit over. Around 1.2 carat total diamond weight for the pair.
The pair weigh 1.7 grams combined.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Note the screw backs have an opening to the round gold ball fabrication so you can screw them in a bit tighter, but as far as the ear posts are threaded, meaning you can't tighten them all the way to the back of the diamond setting. This is not a condition issue as it was intentional and how they were made but wanted to mention it.
No damage to either stone, the prongs and settings and screw backs are excellent but they are typical antique diamonds with inclusions. One has a wing shaped crystal inclusion right in the center with some gray carbon on one side. This can catch the light and is eye visible. A few smaller specks as well that are only under magnification. The other has a smattering of tiny gray carbon specks creating a cloud inclusion at the center, also eye visible and reflecting an overall frostiness around the stone. When worn this wouldn't be jarring as they are not dingy and the carbon is not the solid ink spot type but they are both included. They have a nice bright color and sparkle.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
Thanks so much for looking at my items!
