Antique .7 Carat Tdw Old Mine Cut DIAMOND Natural Stud Earrings 18k White Gold Bridal Something Old Minimalist OMC

Antique .7 Carat Tdw Old Mine Cut DIAMOND Natural Stud Earrings 18k White Gold Bridal Something Old Minimalist OMC

Back from my inventory trip to Europe with lots of antique items to offer up. I will be putting up new inventory weekly. Feel free to follow along on my Instagram where items post to stories at go live.

ABOUT:

The timeless classic - old mine cut diamond studs. These are around .7 carat total weight for the pair. I love the design with the ruffled illusion setting - it surrounds the base of the stones in the white metal to make them appear larger to the eye. From the ruffled halo extend long prongs that prop up each diamond to catch the light.

Set in 18k white gold, the push backs are the Alpa Mecan brand with the push buttons. Due to age and wear they do not latch at the ends of the ear posts any more, but they can be pushed in all the way to the back of the earring to be worn like normal push backs. They have enough tension to hold but I would advise against 24/7 wear with these since they don't fully latch, rather the backs just stay on with tension like any other push back. (It is also possible to swap the push backs out if desired).

Would be a beautiful something old for a bride.

Antique box not included.
Found in France with their hallmarks for 18k on the push backs, along with goldsmith stamp and Mecan maker's marks.

Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos with the zoom pictures I am required to present.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

Each stone is about 4.3-4.4mm depending on where you measure. I can't get an accurate measurement of the depth in the settings but they are each about .33-.37 carat, around .7 carat total for the pair. They weigh 2.4 grams combined. The settings holding the diamonds are 8mm in diameter and stands 4.9mm off the earlobe.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

As with all my pieces these are in estate condition. See notes above about the push backs. Prongs are excellent so each diamond is very well held.

They are eye clean but one can reflect its large frosted girdle a bit under magnification. Nothing glaring, no dark carbon. Only some small faint speck inclusions under magnification. Typical antique diamonds with the tiniest bit of warmth but again not noticeable to the eye, they are not lifeless or dull in any way. One has a small nibble to the girdle edge between two prongs but this is not really seen by the eye, the stone still appears complete / round and fills the pronged setting. It seems to be the result of an indented natural inclusion there that extends slightly towards the pavilion on the underside of the stone but again this is seen more under magnification than to the eye, aside from being a tiny bit frosty there if you have great eye sight and are seeking it out.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

Many of my listings include group shots – I find the comparisons between pieces help show scale, diamond hues, etc. All items in group shots are inventory, but refer to the website to see what items have sold out and to watch for new listings from the grouping to appear on the home page.
