Antique Natural Rose Cut DIAMOND Stud EARRINGS 2 Carats Face Up 14k White Gold Solid Large Open Back

Antique Natural Rose Cut DIAMOND Stud EARRINGS 2 Carats Face Up 14k White Gold Solid Large Open Back

ABOUT:

Love to find rose cut diamonds with open backs to allow the light to pass through! And these antique diamonds with slightly freeform shapes give these earrings a wonderful organic feel and with a great antique look, facing up at about a carat each (actual carat weight is less).

Each a slightly elongated shape, and I use the descriptor of freeform in nature because they are not perfectly round, oval or cushioned and do not perfectly match each other - we sure love to find antique stones with quirks like these.

Sparkly little disco balls to catch the light beautifully. Especially impressive in ambient light compared to modern brilliants, as these were cut to be at their best by fireside and candlelight. They give off the best twinkle!

These were sold to me as 1.4 carat total weight. It's tough to estimate rose cuts with their flat backs without removing them and putting them on a scale but again comparing their face up measurements with modern stones, they each appear as about a carat, one slightly larger (see measurements below), two carats total face up value for the pair. Nice and spready for an eye catching size footprint on the ear.

They test at 14k gold and the push backs are stamped 585, the numerical hallmark used in Europe for 14k gold. I acquired them in the UK.

Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos, especially with the zoomed images that I am required to present for detail.

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

The stones are about 6.7x5.8 and 6.3x6.2mm. They are about 5.7 and 6.66mm front to back / deep, not measuring the ear posts but just the crown like settings. The difference between the two being that one diamond domes a bit deeper than the other. Sold to me as 1.4 carat, facing up as 2 carats for the pair.

The pair weighs 1.7 grams combined.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

These definitely have an antique look to them. With the spready rose cuts catching the light like only they can. No real damage aside from some indented natural inclusions around the girdle of the stone, to one more than the other, where the decision was made by the cutter to polish around the natural variations of the stone. That same stone does have a carbon formation, more of a ink spill smattering than a large round inky spot, not super glaring but you should be able to pick it out in the 20x zoom photos which accent it much more than while wearing. The other stone has some crystal inclusions and some needles that can catch the light and reflect a bit of frost. I would say the pictures actually make them appear more overall frosty than they do under magnification where the inclusions are here and there and not all the way through if that makes sense. Having said that, they would likely be in the SI range with slightly eye visible inclusions becoming more eye visible if you are seeking them out or if the light and angle is just right.

A little wear to the prongs but these have the forked prongs where the metal holds above and below the girdle edge of the stone so they are definitely stable. The push backs are tight, I just don't recommend 24/7 wear as a general rule on antiques.

Love these!

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
